CSUB Finishes Day Three With Another All-Time Top 5 From Haynes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – CSU Bakersfield's men and women's swim team competed in their third day of U.S. Nationals in several events this morning, the 100 Breaststroke, 200 Freestyle, 400 IM, 100 Back, 100 Butterfly and the 200 Freestyle relay. The Roadrunners had strong finishes, including Kris Rogic who made it into the final in two events and Jayssie Haynes who broke into another CSUB All-Time Top 5 in the 100 Breast.

"Kris grabbed another of the team's top swims of the year in his first two finals at a U.S National meet," said Chris Hansen, CSUB's director of swim and dive. "This kid wants to learn and wants to be faster, that's what makes him so coachable."

The freshman from Zagreb, Croatia finished 19th at Nationals in the finals in the 400 IM with a time of 4:00.65 cutting his prelim time by about three seconds. Rogic also competed in the 100 Back finals with a time of 49.29. Tomorrow he will swim the 100 Freestyle.

"Jayssie has a chance to break our school record and snag a final swim," said Hansen. "I'm pumped to see her swim the 200 Breast tomorrow." After today's 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:04.63, the sophomore has officially four events in the CSUB's All-Time top 5.

Other `Runners who competed today were Justice Kramer who had a personal best time of 49.71 in the 100 Butterfly in the time trail, Jake Chir in the 100 Breaststroke (55.97), Ryan Brimer and Joe Cobarrubias who both competed in the 200 Freestyle this morning.

The 200 Free Relay was the last event of the evening and Coach Hansen went on to comment about it, "The relay was a great finish for Lovre, Richie, Joe and Jaren. Lovre's leadoff split of 20.8 was a great swim and the rest all had great splits. These four guys as well as Kris, Ryan and Loren all can be on this relay in February, we have a ton of options." The men finished in fifth place tonight with a time of 1:22.47.

The U.S. Nationals competitions will wrap up their last day tomorrow in Columbus, Ohio. `Runner fans can watch live on NBC. Check your local listing for broadcast times.
