CSUB Heads Out To Phoenix To Take On GCU

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - CSU Bakersfield women's volleyball team are traveling to Phoenix, Arizona Friday for one league match against GCU. After this past weekend's away matches, the Roadrunners fell to fourth place in WAC standings with a record of 7-4.

"We have to go get 2% better," says Giovana Melo, Director of Volleyball at CSUB. " They were getting better and we took a couple steps back this weekend. We need to re-gain our composure and go to battle."

The `Runners will only have one road match this week before their final two regular season matches at home next week. Grand Canyon (3-8) will welcome Bakersfield as the leader in services aces per set (1.39). Although CSUB have swept the Antelopes last meet up this season, they still need to stay on their toes as road matches tend to be more challenging for the `Runners. GCU is led by freshman Claire Kovensky (3.25 k/s) and sophomore Heidi Carpenter (5.78 a/s).

The `Runners know the pressure is on to stay as one of the top contenders to finish with a good record in WAC. Bakersfield fans can catch all the action and cheer from home live by tuning to WAC Digital Network. Link for live stream and video can be located on the volleyball's schedule page.
