`Runners Set For Regular-Season Finale At SJSU

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield men's soccer team travels to San Jose State for their final regular season game on Friday, Nov. 3 with kickoff scheduled at 1 p.m.

Technically, this is the last regular season game, but in essence, the Western Athletic Conference tournament is starting a game early this year.  The top seven teams in the WAC qualify for the tournament, but only three teams, Air Force, the WAC regular season champion, Seattle U and UNLV have qualified for the tournament at this point.

The `Runners are tied with GCU and San Jose State at 4-4-1 with UTRGV and Utah Valley only a half game behind at 3-4-2.  One of these five teams will not make the WAC tournament.

The `Runners control their own destiny which is what you always want in situations like this.  You win and you are in.  Lose? Then you need to scoreboard watch and that is the worst feeling.

CSUB and San Jose State is the only WAC match played on Friday.  The remaining schedule will be played on Saturday, Nov. 4 and here are the other meaningful matches:

UTRGV at UIW
UNLV at GCU
Seattle U at Utah Valley

If UTRGV or UVU lose, CSUB, GCU and SJSU are all in.  Both Utah Valley AND UTRGV must both win to throw chaos into the WAC tournament.

The `Runners have played the last two matches without one of their Captain's and their leading scorer, Jamie Carey-Morrell.  Obviously, if `Runners Head Coach Richie Grant can get Carey-Morrell back, that is a huge boost to CSUB's back line.

The WAC tournament starts Wednesday, Nov. 8 in Las Vegas, NV.
