LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield men's and women's dive teams traveled to USC for the weekend for the prestigious three day USC Diving Invite.
The `Runners sent
Adam Estrella and
Andrew Huerta, both freshmen to represent the men's team and the women sent
Hannah Chernabaeff and freshman
Antonia Beason.
Estrella and Huerta competed in the one meter to open up the event on Friday morning. Estrella finished sixth in the preliminaries with a score of 221.10 and Huerta scored 164.15 to finish tenth. In the finals, Estrella averaged 36.83 for the six dives for a total score of 220.95 to finish seventh in the event. Huerta averaged 31.56 for the six dives for a total of 353.50 to finish tenth.
The women started with the three meter diving event and Chernabaeff just fell short of qualifying for the finals. Chernabaeff, the junior from Bakersfield, finished 20
th in the prelims and only the top 18 qualified for the finals. Chernabaeff totaled 190.50 for her six dives. Beason finished 26
th in the event with a total score of 155.85 for her six dives.
Melissa Gore, CSUB's Head Coach of diving said, "Overall, the divers dove consistently. I'm excited to see what's to come the next two days."
Saturday, Nov. 11, the men will compete in the platform and the women will compete in the one meter and both preliminary events start at 11 a.m.
