`Runners Go Into Another Overtime For The Weekend But Fall Short To UIW

Box Score BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's men's soccer back line would keep the Roadrunners going into their third scoreless overtime game for the weekend against UIW. Bakersfield closed out this weekend in Texas falling to the Cardinals in an overtime match 0-1.

The opening 45 minutes stayed mostly calm as both teams would play a scoreless first half. CSUB took more possession offensively by creating shorter passes and taking control of the ball most of the game. `Runners had two good shots but nearly missed the first chance with a header at the 10^th minute by freshman Lucas Vukovic and then again in the 12^th minute by Senior Jamie Carey-Morrell going a bit wide. Goalkeeper Detre Bell made two saves in the first half.

In the second half the team would switch rolls and even out the first 90 minutes by UIW taking more control of the ball. Both team took three shots and had big chances in the 80^th minute with only 15 seconds apart from each other. Bell would keep CSUB in the match by taking a quick diving save.

Overtime started out fast with the Cardinal's, Jordan Brown, taking the first shot in the first two minutes that was saved by Bell. However, UIW would keep pushing offensively until they found the middle of the box again in the eighth minute to beat Bell in a high shot to take the overtime victory. `Runners would end the match by taking five shots and four saves for day.

CSUB (5-8-1, 3-2-1 WAC) will return home next weekend to host their final home matches for the season. Friday, Oct. 27^th will be their Golden Game/Senior day against UMKC starting at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 29th match will be against Air Force with a 1 p.m. kickoff time.
