BAKERSFIELD, CA - The CSU Bakersfield men's soccer team heads back to Texas this weekend, but this time they will stay and play two. The `Runners (5-7, 3-2 WAC) sit in fourth place in the very competitive Western Athletic Conference and only the top seven teams advance to the WAC tournament. The `Runners haven't played since going to Houston Baptist on Oct. 12 and should be fresh and ready to go for matches at UTRGV Friday night and then UIW Sunday afternoon.
CSUB will travel to Edinburg, TX to play sixth place UTRGV on Friday, Oct. 20 with kickoff scheduled for 9 p.m. (7 p.m. CT). UTRGV enters with a 5-5-2 overall record and a 2-3-1 record in the WAC. Sophomore Ilias Kosmidis leads UTRGV with five goals and 12 total points.
UIW enters the weekend at 3-9-1 overall and 1-5 in the WAC. The Cardinals host San Jose State on Friday night, Oct. 20 before hosting CSUB on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 1:30 p.m. Central Time. UIW has not scored a goal in its last three games played and have only scored three goals in the six WAC games they have played this season.
