`Runners To Start Second Half Of League Matches At Home

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - CSU Bakersfield women's volleyball team return home this weekend after a pair of two road match losses. The Roadrunners are tied for second with in WAC standings with a record of 5-2. The two matches will feature theme nights; Pride Night on Thursday against UMKC and their Pink Game on Saturday against Chicago State.

CSUB are ready to start a clean slate and put the two road losses behind them to start second half of WAC matches. " We are at the half way mark," says Giovana Melo, Director of Volleyball at CSUB. "Second half of the conference starting this week and we have to go get a little bit better. Many teams are playing better than they were in the first half so we have to step up."

The `Runners will open their Pride Night match against UMKC, who are tied for third in WAC standings with a record of 3-4, 7-13. The Kangaroos will match up against CSUB at home this time and are looking for their first road conference win. The Roos led by sophomore Alicia Harrington with 3.33 kills per set and 3.25 digs per set.

To wrap up the weekend festivities on the Pink Game day the `Runners will take on the Windy City, Chicago State on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars will come to Bakersfield with a record of 1-6, 10-13. The team is led by junior transfer Lauryn Dela Cruz with 4.33 kills per set and sophomore Megan Klavitter with 3.41 digs per set.

Pride Night match on Thursday is scheduled for a 7 p.m start time at the Icardo Center. Rainbow volleyball t-shirts will be for sell. Pink's saturday game will start at 1 p.m. in Bakersfield. The team will wear pink jerseys to honor October's Breast Cancer awareness month. `Runner fans who cannot make this weekend festivities can watch live stream of both league matches via WAC Digital Network.
