Bakersfield, CA – The Roadrunners women's swimming and diving team is coming off a split at USC.  CSUB was defeated by nationally ranked USC, but the `Runners did defeat Pac-12 Oregon State, and that is a huge victory for CSUB's Director of Swimming and Diving Chris Hansen's squad.  Saturday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. the `Runners will host Pacific at the John S. Hillman Memorial Aquatic Center in their home opener for the 2017-18 season.

"Pacific women's team has really stepped up over the last couple," Hansen said.  "However. So have we.  Like the men, this is going to be the kind of meet that could go down to the last relay.   The win against Oregon State is exactly what the women needed because we have a tough couple of meets coming up."
 
Sophomore Jayssie Haynes has already seen her hard work in the offseason pay off.  Haynes led the `Runners last weekend at USC by swimming near personal bests in the 200 and 500 freestyle.
 
"The team will look to Jayssie Haynes to continue doing what she has been and that is swimming fast," Hansen added.  "Sabrina Zavala, Hannah Chernabaeff, Maddie Cosgrove, Alisa Cooke and Morgan King will need to compete like they did last weekend.   Our freshman will also play an important role.   Everyone will need to show up."
 
Pacific will have a meet on Friday afternoon against California, while the `Runners will be rested and ready to go after having eight days off between meets.
 
As always, admission to all CSUB swimming and diving meets are free at the John S. Hillman Memorial Aquatic Center.
