Two Bakersfield Natives Sign Track NLI For CSUB

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's Director of Track and Field, Marcia Mansur-Wentworth, has announced the signing of National Letters of Intent by two young women. Bakersfield natives Jazmine Ramey and Julianne Finch have signed on to become Roadrunners this fall.

“Julianne is a great student-athlete with exceptional grades and work ethic,” said Mansur-Wentworth of Finch. “She will be an impact athlete for us at the WAC level.”

Finch will graduate from Garces Memorial High School this spring before coming to CSU Bakersfield in the fall. The Bakersfield native has enjoyed a strong prep career and is currently the top-ranked pole vaulter in the city and is ranked third in the Central Section of the state. Finch has personal bests of 12 feet in the pole vault, which would currently be good enough to tie CSUB's all-time record, and 15.75 in the 100-meter hurdles, less than half a second outside of the CSUB Top 20.

“I am very excited to have Jazmine join us next year,” Mansur-Wentworth said of her other new 'Runner. “She has the work ethic and dedication that CSUB values. I expect her to be an immediate impact student-athlete.”

Ramey, a sprinter who will graduate from Centennial High School, has been a standout performer in her prep career. The Bakersfield native finished first at both the West Coast Relays and the CIF South Area Championships in 2015. She also placed eighth at the CIF South Sectional Championships in 2016. Ramey's personal best time of 12.00 in the 100-meter dash would rank her seventh all-time for the 'Runners today.

Finch and Ramey will join the Roadrunners this fall, but the 2016 CSUB squad still has one final meet this weekend before shipping out to Kansas City, Mo. for the WAC Outdoors Championships, May 11-14.
