SAN FRANCISCO, Calif—The CSU Bakersfield wrestling team sent a limited squad comprised mainly of redshirts to the 40th California Collegiate Open Sunday afternoon.

Sean Nickell, a 2015-16 redshirt, defeated teammate Kyle Anderson 7-0 to win the 125-pound title. Anderson was given the Coach Haddad Award for most falls in the quickest amount of time. Anderson pinned his two opponents prior to meeting up with Nickell in 2:23.

Other 2015-16 CSUB redshirts that placed at the tournament were; Russell Rohlfing (third, 141), Jacob Thalin (third, 157), Matt Penyacsek (third, 184), Mark Penyacsek (fourth, 197), and Dominic Balmer (fourth, heavyweight).
