Box Score BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—A pair of second half Seattle U goals gave the Redhawks a 2-0 victory over CSU Bakersfield in Western Athletic Conference men's soccer action Sunday afternoon.
Alex Rolden scored the first goal of the match for the Redhawks (6-4, 2-0 WAC) in the 58th minute. Jeff Rose beat the CSUB defense down the right side. He sent the ball into the box for Rolden who shot low and to the left of CSBU goalie Nicolas Clever. David Rubio took a Rolden pass in the 78th minute and his attempted went off Clever into the bottom right of the Roadrunner net. Sergio Rivas was also credited with an assist on the play.
“I thought we were excellent in the first half,” said CSUB head coach Richie Grant. “Our shape allowed us a pair of scoring chances. The first goal was really important today, and as the game went on fatigue took over. We will take some confidence from the performance as we head into next week.”
Clever made two saves on the four Seattle U shots on goal. Jamie Carey-Morrell posted three of the nine total CSUB attempts in the match.
The Roadrunners (2-8, 0-2 WAC) travel to No. 21 Utah Valley (7-3, 0-1 WAC) Thursday night for a 7 p.m. (MT) start.
