ATHERTON, Calif.—The CSU Bakersfield wrestling team sent a limited squad to Saturday's Menlo Invitational.

Redshirt Russell Rohlfing earned the 14th open championship for the CSUB program this season as he took home the top honors at 141 pounds. Rohlfing earned a first round bye and posted a pin and a major decision on his way to the final match where he faced San Francisco State's Josh Weinberg. Rohlfing earned his second individual championship of the year when he defeated Weinberg 14-8.

Redshirt Dominic Balmer earned a spot in the finals at heavyweight. Balmer defeated Zane Wardwell of Southern Oregon 2-1 in the quarterfinals. Balmer led Robert Enmon, an unattached wrestler from San Francisco State, 2-0 in the first period before Enmon was forced to medically forfeit due to a wrist injury. Balmer dropped a 4-1 overtime decision to San Francisco State's Sam Alnassiri in the finals.

Redshirt Mark Penyacsek finished third at 197 pounds. Penyacsek won his opening match before losing to Young An of Menlo in the quarterfinals. Penyacsek would win four straight in the consolation bracket including a 5-2 victory over Kenny Steers of Menlo in the third place match.

CSUB returns home Friday when the Roadrunners host Cal Poly in Pac-12 action at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at Vallitix.com.
