BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—The CSU Bakersfield wrestling team begins a four-dual home stand Sunday when the Roadrunners host Grand Canyon at 5 p.m.
CSUB shutout Grand Canyon 43-0 last season in Phoenix to take a 3-0 all-time series lead. The Antelopes continue to transition to Division I and are competing as an independent. Grand Canyon is 5-15 in duals this season.
True freshman 174-pounder Kenny Moore is the team leader in victories with 13 (13-7). The 'Lopes 125-pounder Trayton Libolt is second on the team in victories with 11 (11-9).
Redshirt senior Reuben Franklin was selected Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week Jan. 26. Franklin improved to 25-5 on the year with a pair of major decisions at the South Dakota State Triangular on January 22. In the opener, Franklin, at 197 pounds, defeated Jake Tindle of SIU Edwardsville, 10-2. In the nightcap, Franklin knocked off No. 12 Nate Rotert of South Dakota State, 14-2.
Franklin has now won 18 of his 25 matches by major, tech fall, or by pin fall and is 10-1 in duals, scoring 49 points in 11 matches. He enters the upcoming week having won six-straight matches and 10 of his last 11.
CSUB is 8-3 and is looking to win its ninth dual for the first time since the 2008-09 season when the Roadrunners went 10-5.
