Franklin Named Pac-12 Wrestler Of The Week

SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 Conference announced on Jan. 26 that Reuben Franklin of CSU Bakersfield was named the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week for competition through Jan. 18-24.

Franklin (Murrieta, Calif.) improved to 25-5 on the year with a pair of major decisions at the South Dakota State Triangular on January 22. In the opener, Franklin, at 197 pounds, defeated Jake Tindle of SIU Edwardsville, 10-2. In the nightcap, Franklin knocked off No. 12 Nate Rotert of South Dakota State, 14-2.

Franklin has now won 18 of his 25 matches by major, tech fall, or by pin fall and is 10-1 in duals, scoring 49 points in 11 matches. He enters the upcoming week having won six-straight matches and 10 of his last 11. It is his first-career weekly accolade and the first for the CSUB program.

CSU Bakersfield (8-3, 2-0 Pac-12) hosts Grand Canyon (5-15) at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31.

Arizona State will host the 2016 Pac-12 Wrestling Championships on Feb. 27 in Tempe, Ariz.
