The Roadrunners made five of their first eight field goal attempts to take an early 11-4 lead. CSUB held the Aggies to 25% shooting (5-of-20) in the opening frame as the 'Runners led 15-13 after one.  NM State opened the second quarter on a 13-2 run and outscored the Roadrunners 34-18 in the frame to lead 47-33 at the break. The Aggies make 6-of-8 three-pointers in the second and shot better from beyond the three-point arc (8-of-14, 47%) than from the field (16-of-39, 41%).

The Roadrunners mounted a charge, scoring 13 of the first 19 third quarter points to make it a seven-point game as CSUB took a timeout (53-46).  Moriah Mack scored five straight in between an Addi Walters' three to put the Aggies up 58-49 at the third quarter media break.  CSUB chipped away at the NM State, cutting it to 59-53, but the Aggies responded with five straight points and would lead 64-53 after three complete. NM State made three three-pointers on a 13-2 run to open the fourth quarter to put the game away.

“We didn't play a complete game,” said CSUB head coach Greg McCall. “We played well in the first and third quarters and played poorly in the second and the fourth.”

The Aggies shot 48% from three-point range (13-of-27) as NM State would make 30-of-62 field goal attempts (48.4%). CSUB shot 42.1% from the field (24-of-57). The Aggies outrebounded the 'Runners 36-33. The Aggies used a press effectively against the Roadrunners, scoring 26 points off of 17 CSUB turnovers.

Four NM State (17-3, 6-0 WAC) players scored in double figures led by Sasha Weber who had 20. Weber sank six of her nine three-point attempts. Mack scored 19. Brooke Salas had 12 while Brianna Freeman added 11. Alyssa Shannon led the Roadrunners with 15 points.

“We didn't do a good job against their press,” McCall said. “We need to regroup and get ready for two games at home.”

CSUB (5-15, 2-3 WAC) returns home Thursday for a 7 p.m. start against Grand Canyon. Tickets are available at Vallitix.com. The game can also be seen on the WAC Digital Network.
