'Runners Headed To Santa Cruz For Tri-Meet

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's women's and men's swimming and diving teams will compete in a tri-meet against UC Santa Cruz and Fresno Pacific, Jan 23. The meet hosted by UCSC will be the women's team's last meet before the Western Athletic Conference Championships while the 'Runner men will host Cal, Feb. 4, on Senior Day.

“For our non-conference team, this will be their shave meet,” said CSUB's Director of Swimming, Chris Hansen. “We are pumped to see the ladies, Suzanne Westbrook and Kiana Dorris, swim fast and prepare them for a great spring. For the rest of the ladies, relay decisions, WAC scoring team, and WAC events need to be decided at this meet. FPU is not a team to take lightly, but if we do our job right, we can walk away with two wins.”

Like the women's team, CSUB's men will tackle UCSC and Fresno Pacific on Saturday. “We are going in with the same agenda as the women, get some ideas on WAC relays, events, and scorers, but we definitely don't have that much room to play,” said Hansen. “If we aren't prepared, FPU can make this a tough meet. Again, if we go in and do it right, we should also walk away with two wins.”

The Roadrunners will travel to Santa Cruz, Calif. on Saturday, Jan. 23, with the competition set to start at 11 a.m. For results and a full recap from the competition, check back here at GoRunners.com in the afternoon.
