BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—A week after a record-breaking performance from CSU Bakersfield's diving team, the Roadrunner men and women will have another chance to make waves when they leap into the pool for the UCLA Diving Invitational. The 'Runners will travel to Los Angeles for the annual meet that will be held at the Spieker Aquatics Center, Jan. 15-17.

“We are really looking forward to competing in the UCLA Invite,” said Ben Herboth, CSUB's second-year Diving Coach. “It will be a very competitive meet with a lot of very successful programs attending. It should be a great tune-up for conference championships.”

In a season and a half as the leader of the CSUB divers, Herboth has already seen two school records fall. Last year, Tyler Greenwald broke the men's 3-meter record and, just this past weekend, Carlee Burks smashed the women's record in the same event.

Herboth sees the UCLA meet as an opportunity for Burks to continue to show her skills: “Carlee has been having a great season thus far, so, it will be interesting to see how she matches up with some of the top divers in the NCAA.” Burks has already qualified on one board for the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in March and will hopefully be joined by some of her teammates. This weekend's meet will serve as an official qualifying meet for the Zone meets.

Burks, Greenwald, and the rest of the 'Runners will face off against some stiff competition including, but not limited to, UCLA, USC, Cal, San Diego State, and Cal Poly. In total, divers from 14 universities will compete in Los Angeles this weekend.
