BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—The CSU Bakersfield athletics department and The Greater Bakersfield New Car Dealers Association (GBNCDA) have started a new scholarship endowment for student-athletes who are pursuing a degree in business administration.

"Our association is proud to once again be part of helping students receive their education at CSUB,” said Patrick Beck, President of the Greater Bakersfield New Car Dealers Association. “This is a partnership that makes perfect sense for all of us.  Many of the hundreds of employees who work at the local new car dealerships have been educated at CSUB.  We intend to support the efforts of our current and future employees and entrepreneurs."

“I want to thank Patrick Beck and the entire Greater Bakersfield New Car Dealers Association for making an investment into the athletics department and our student-athletes,” said CSUB athletics director Kenneth “Ziggy” Siegfried. “This new endowment will transform lives for many years to come!”

The GBNCDA has pledged $50,000 over the next five years and would like to build the endowment to over $200,000. The GBNCDA is looking to impact as many students as possible beginning with the GBNCDA providing six $500 scholarships that will be given in the Spring of 2016.
