BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- CSU Bakersfield Athletics and Roadrunner Sports Properties in conjunction with Learfield Sports, has announced a radio agreement to air 20 CSUB baseball games on the newly-launched 1230 ESPN.
The latest announcement further advances to new format of American General Media's 1230 ESPN (KGEO), which was the original radio home of CSUB baseball when games started on local radio in 2010. The last two seasons the games had been carried on KERN 1180, another AGM station.
The schedule includes select non-conference games beginning on Friday, February 20 when CSUB hosts Northern Kentucky. The second game of the doubleheader will air on 1230 ESPN beginning around 5 P.M.
Assistant athletics director for communications Corey Costelloe will serve as the radio voice of the 'Runners once again, his sixth season calling CSUB baseball.
“This is a great partnership with 1230 ESPN, we're happy to be the first local sports property to air on the newly-launched format,” Costelloe said. “AGM has been a great media partner over the years with both our basketball and baseball broadcasts so we are excited to help them with this new venture by airing CSUB baseball on 1230 ESPN.”
Other games include home and key road contests both in and out of Western Athletic Conference play and the entire Western Athletic Conference Tournament, scheduled for May 20-24 at Hohokam Park in Mesa, Ariz. Other home and select road contests will also be available online at GoRunners.com.
Video for select home games is also scheduled for the 2015 season, a first at Hardt Field.
“We're continuing to work with new partners on the media front to offer as much as possible for our fans who can't make the games at home or aren't able to travel,” Costelloe said. “We will experiment with some online video options as well this year to see what we can do to make the experience even better for our fans following us outside of Bakersfield.”
Although the first broadcast isn't schedule until February 20, the Roadrunners open their season this weekend hosting defending Big East Champion Creighton on Friday, February 13th at 6 P.M. The remainder of the series is scheduled for Saturday, February 14th at 6 and Sunday, February 15 at Noon.
Tickets are available by calling 654-BLUE or online at Vallitix.com.
