BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-- The 2015-16 swimming and diving season marches on as the Roadrunners will travel to Malibu, Calif. for a meet this weekend. CSU Bakersfield will take part in the Malibu Invitational hosted by Pepperdine, Oct. 16-17, at the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool.

“We are making this a tough meet by swimming a lot of events in just three sessions,” said Chris Hansen, Director of Swimming at CSUB. “For example, sophomore Bryant Fascio will take the challenge of swimming the distance trifecta of the 1650 free, 400 IM, and 500 free all in a row. That is what this meet is about for us; we want our freshmen to learn how to swim tired.”

Hansen also mentioned that the Malibu Invite will give the coaching staff a chance to play with relay teams for the Triton Classic coming up in late November. 'Runner relays have proven to be potent in the past and Hansen and his assistant coaches are looking for the perfect combinations to win a few more WAC titles.

The diving competition will kick off the invitational on Friday at noon before the distance events begin at 2 p.m. On Saturday, competition continues with middle distance events from 10-12 followed by sprints from 1-3. The 'Runners will be represented by men and women in both the swimming and diving events.
