DENVER, Colo.-- CSU Bakersfield's Carlee Burks and Tyler Greenwald have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's and Men's Divers of the Week, respectively, for Jan. 19-25.
Burks, a sophomore from Bakersfield, Calif. (Centennial HS), led the 'Runner women to another 1-2-3 sweep over UC Santa Cruz, picking up wins on both boards. She raised her personal best (which is the fifth all-time score for CSUB) by 0.4 to 266.32 points in the 1-meter. Later, she increased her 3-meter score (which is the third all-time score for Bakersfield) by three points to 294.75. That score is also the third-best in the WAC this year while her 1-meter score is the seventh-best in the WAC.
Greenwald, a sophomore from Henderson, Nev. (Coronado HS) posted a score of 333.45 on the 3-meter board which smashed his previous best (291.15), sailed by the Bakersfield record (Troy Neklason, 2012 – 328.25), and is the second highest score in the WAC this season. Greenwald also finished first on the 1-meter board with a score of 293.70 which moves him into fourth all-time for CSUB in the event. The 1-meter score breezed by his previous best (270.15) and is the fourth-best mark in the WAC this year.
With the selection, Burks has now been named WAC Diver of the Week three times this year and a total of six times in her career. Greenwald earned the honors twice in 2013-14 and this week's selection is the third of his career.
