BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—Bakersfield wrapped up non-conference men's soccer play by defeating Sacramento State 5-0 Sunday afternoon at the Main Soccer Field.

Joe Masumiya's (R-Sr., Lakewood, Calif., Lakewood HS) penalty kick in the 40th minute gave the Roadrunners (6-2-1) a 1-0 lead heading into overtime.  Bakersfield put the game away with three goals in a 12-minute span in the second half. Simon Doherty (Jr., West Lothian, Scotland, FDU) opened the barrage with his sixth tally of the year when he put back a Julian Zamora (R-Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Golden Valley HS) rebound at 58:12.

A little over six minutes later Zamora scored off a long pass from Lucas Dall'Orso (Sr., Orange County, Calif., JSerra Catholic HS). The spurt ended in the 71st minute when Doherty set up Christian Duarte for his third goal of the season. Armando Flores (So., Santa Ana, Calif., Valley HS) capped off the day for CSUB with his first career goal that came with 58 seconds to play. Edan Mendoza (Fr., Atlanta, Ga., Collins Hill HS) earned the assist on the play.

The 5-0 margin of 'Runner victory is the largest in the 14-match series between Bakersfield and Sacramento State (2-5-2). The Roadrunners have now won five in a row over the Hornets dating back to the finals of the 2010 MPSF Tournament. CSUB has outscored Sac State 19-0 in that span.

Western Athletic Conference play opens for Bakersfield next Saturday night when CSUB hosts San Jose State at 7 p.m. The match marks the return of former 'Runner coach Simon Tobin and the match will be shown on NSCAA TV as the national game of the week on NSCAATV.com.
