Box Score NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—Sagi Lev-Ari's penalty kick with five minutes remaining in double overtime gave CSUN (4-3-1) a 2-1 victory over Bakersfield (5-2-1) in men's soccer play Thursday night.
Lev-Ari scored 38 seconds into the match to give the Matadors the advantage. Simon Doherty (Jr., West Lothian, Scotland, FDU) tied the match in the 52nd minute. Edan Mendoza (Fr., Atlanta, Ga., Collins Hill HS) was credited with the assist after setting Doherty up at the top right of the CSUN box.
Lev-Ari's penalty kick was awarded when Jamie Carey-Morrell (Fr., Stevenage, England, The Nobel School) was issued a red card as a result of touching the ball with his hand on a shot that was going towards an open Bakersfield net.
The Roadrunners conclude the non-conference portion of the schedule Sunday afternoon when CSUB hosts Sacramento State at 1 p.m.
