Box Score 2 HUNTSVILLE, Texas--Bakersfield (2-1) split on the final day of the Sam Houston State Invitational Saturday.
The Roadrunners opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of Louisiana-Monroe. Kelsee Sawyer (Jr., Temecula, Calif., Great Oak HS) paced CSUB with 11 kills and four digs. Molly O'Hagan (Sr., Tonganoxie, Kan., Tonganoxie HS) charted 10 kills and six blocks. Danika Youngblood (Sr., Salt Lake City, Utah, Western Nebraska CC) recorded 13 digs and eight kills.
Bakersfield dropped a 3-0 decision to Sam Houston State to close tournament play. The Bearkats limited the 'Runners to under .100 hitting in the first two games before ending the match with a 27-25 set three victory. O'Hagan led Bakersfield with 11 kills and four blocks. Luiza Martins (Jr., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Western Nebraska CC) registered a double-double of 36 assists and 10 digs. Mariah Alvidrez (R-Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) tallied 17 digs while Youngblood had 12. Eryn Riley (Sr., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Los Osos HS) added 10 digs.
Sam Houston State would take home team honors, going 4-0. O'Hagan, Alvidrez, and Martins were selected to the All-Tournament team.
Bakersfield returns to the court next week at the Flyer-Raider Invitational in Dayton, Ohio. Among the four matches is a contest against No. 7 Nebraska.
