Eastern Washington Defeats Bakersfield 3-0

Box Score

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Eastern Washington defeated Bakersfield 3-0 in women's soccer play Sunday afternoon.

The teams played a scoreless first half before Cassie Black struck 3:28 into the closing frame for the opening tally. Savannah Hoekstra posted the second goal of the day for the Eagles in the 61st minute. Paige Gallaway capped of the scoring with a goal in the 78th minute.

Eastern Washington outshot the Roadrunner 14-4 (8-1 on goal). CSUB's sophomore goalie Megan Vina (McKinleyville, Calif., Arcata HS) made five saves.

“Friday night was phenomenal and today was very poor," said Bakersfield head coach Gary Curneen. "In order for us to be successful as a program, consistency is the first thing. Unfortunately, that was pretty bad today and there is no hiding it. We feel like we're making progress, but that was certainly not a step forward. We'll get back at it. There are some harsh lessons for some of these players and they're getting exposed for a lot of bad habits.”
