BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--UC San Diego won the final event of the day, the 400 free relay, by 6/10's of a second to pull out a 150-148 men's swimming dual victory over Bakersfield Saturday. The Tritons swam a time of 3:05.75 in the 400 free relay to edge the Roadrunners (3:05.81) to earn the two-point winning margin.
Mitchell Huxhold (Jr., Escondido, Calif., San Pasqual HS) won three individual events to lead the 'Runners. Huxhold took first in the 100 free (:46.95), 500 free (4:34.96), and the 1000 free (9:26.16).
Louis Wojciechowski (So., La Crescenta, Calif., North Carolina State) earned first place in the 50 free (:21.67) and the 100 butterfly (:51.86).
Alex Kotliarsky (R-Sr. Denver, Colo., Indiana Univ.) won the the 200 free in a time of 1:41.99.
Jordan Singleton (R-Sr., Mission Hills, Calif., Ventura College) was the winner in the 100 back with a time of :52.48.
Tyler Greenwald (Fr., Henderson, Nev., Coronado HS) was victorious in the 1m diving event (270.15).
"It came down to the last relay, and we had a couple of gentlemen not step up, and its that simple," said Bakersfield director of swimming and diving Chris Hansen. "Mitchell had an amazing meet, winning three times. We need the entire team to step up and do it."
Bakersfield returns to the pool Jan. 25 with a tri-dual at UNLV.
