BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Looking to continue its impressive start to the 2013 outdoor season, the CSU Bakersfield men's and women's track and field teams will be in action at the Cal State Northridge Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
The men are lead by senior Thomas Judge (Bakersfield, Calif., Garces HS), who has set personal bests and
moved up the CSUB all time list in each of the two previous meets and is
currently sitting at No. 10 in the hammer, will compete in the hammer throw. He finished first in the hammer at the Cal Poly Pomona Preview top open the season and third last weekend at Northridge. Other Roadrunner hammer throwers who have shown improvement this season are Gabe Holland (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska, University of Alaska), who will also compete in the discus, and Bryan Wilmert (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS), who will compete in the shot put as well.
For the women's squad, Courtney Parker (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., South HS) is off to a great start in the javelin winning the first meet and finishing in fifth place last week with personal-best throws over the past two weeks. She's climbed up to No. 12 in the CSUB record books.
On the track, the women will focus on relay races on Saturday. Alyssa Page (So., Santa Rosa, Calif., Montgomerey HS) and Taevionna Wilson (So., Antioch, Calif., Antioch HS) will lead teams in the the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 races. Freshman Jamara Scott (Bakersfield, Calif., Golden Valley)
continues a strong freshman campaign and will compete in the long jump
where she has made the finals in every event this season; she will also
run on the 4x100 relay team and sprint medley relay.
The
men's and women's hammer will be held on Friday, while all other field
and track action will begin at 8:40 a.m. on Saturday. The last event of
the day is scheduled for 5:10 p.m.
