BERKELEY, Calif.—No. 21/22 California (7-3) outscored Bakersfield (3-6) 20-6 over the final 8:03 of the first half as the Bears defeated the Roadrunners 70-51 Sunday afternoon.

The 'Runners trailed Cal 21-20 at the 8:03 mark when Tyonna Outland (R-Jr., Compton, Calif., Lynwood HS) hit a jumper. The Bears turned up the defense, scoring the next 14 points in a row to break the game open. Cal led 39-24 at halftime. California would hold CSUB to just nine field goals in the first half and 29.2% shooting (19-of-65) for the game.

Hind Ben Abdelaker led all scorers for Cal with 18 points. Outland led the 'Runners with 13. Batabe Zempare (So., Accra, Ghana, Scottsdale Chapparal HS) posted a game high 14 rebounds for Bakersfield. The 'Runners outrebounded Cal 43-41.

The Roadrunners return home Wednesday night when Bakersfield hosts Houston Baptist at 7 p.m.
