FRESNO, Calif. - Despite another attempt at a second-half comeback, the Bakersfield Roadrunners couldn't manage the key baskets and the Drake Bulldogs had an answer as they held off CSUB 65-57 in the final game of the Fresno State Classic Sunday afternoon.

With the win Drake took the tournament title with a perfect 3-0 mark.

The Roadrunners struggled offensively in the first half converting on just 10-of-26 from the field with the starters combining for just seven points.

As has been the case recently, the 'Runners put together a much better second half effort climbing back into the game after trailing by double digits. Drake led by 12 with 8:02 remaining after a five-minute scoring drought by Bakersfield. The 'Runners then managed to pull back within three points on three occasions in the final four minutes but Drake had an answer each time using senior guard Richard Carter as their primary weapon as he finished the game with 18 points. Carter made a layup with 1:24 remaining and was fouled on the attempt and made the ensuing free throw to stretch the lead to six and help close out the win for Drake.

CSUB was led for the third time in three games by Issiah Grayson (R-Sr., Atlanta, Ga., Southern Idaho CC) who scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting and 3-of-5 from three-point range. Grayson however didn't manage an assist for the first time this season and had four turnovers in the loss. He was the only starter in double figures as the Bakersfield bench scored 28 of the team's 57 points in the game. Zach Lamb (R-Sr., Norcross, Ga., Miami-Dade) playing for the first time in two games added 10 points on 4-of-10 from the field while Corey Hall (Sr., Chicago Ill., Ventura CC) scored a season-high 10 points on 4-of-7 from the field.

Bakersfield shot 52% in the second half and were also 5-of-8 from three-point range but Drake managed to keep pace shooting 47.8% in the second half as well from the field while converting on 10-of-13 free throw chances as well.

The Roadrunners will return home for the only time in the month of December as they host Santa Clara Thursday night at Rabobank Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 P.M. The 'Runners then play their next six games on the road.
