BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Seattle U defeated Bakersfield 2-0 in Western Athletic Conference women's soccer action Friday night.

Taylor Ritzman scored in the 12th minute while Stephanie Verdoia added her league leading seventh goal in the 50th minute for the Redhawks' goals. Seattle U outshot the Roadrunners 14-7 (7-5 on goal). Bakersfield held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

“Seattle is a very disciplined team and it was unacceptable to give up the goal that we allowed in the first half,” said Bakersfield head coach Melissa Phillips. “The goal we gave up in the first five minutes of the second half was due to a lack of focus. I commend our effort to get back in the game in the last 15 minutes. We had several encouraging signs but we need to show a level of constancy moving forward."

Bakersfield hosts Idaho Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m.
