PALO ALTO, Calif. - Going up against some of the best competition in the country and getting a glimpse of who they will compete against at the NCAA West Regional meet in November, the CSU Bakersfield cross country runners raced in the 39th annual Stanford Invitational on Saturday.

In a field of 34 teams including nearly 300 runners, senior Jazmin Lopez (Baldwin Park, Calif., Mt. San Antonio College) posted the fasted CSUB time with a 24:05 to place 211th. Jorey Braughton (R-So., Bakersfield, Calif., Centennial HS) followed with a 24:37 (241th), Anaiz Ortiz (Jr., Palmdale, Calif., Antelope Valley College) clocked a 25:12 (253rd), Kaylee Moyer (Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., North HS) recorded a time of 25:21 (259th) and Melisa Cruz (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., West HS) posted a mark of 25:24 (261st). The 'Runners placed 33rd in the team standings.

"I am really proud of how Kaylee Moyer is progressing. She is coming off a some health issues and a car accident and hasn't been able to train at full capacity until now. Today she started to look more like herself adn I am exctied to see how she will develop in the next several weeks," said CSUB head coach Ashley Benson. "Jazmin Lopez was also very tough today. She fought through ebing sick all week and still ran very solid despite missing three key workouts this week."

CSUB will be back in action on Oct. 6 to compete in the UCSD Triton Classic in San Diego.
