IRVINE, Calif. - Sophomore Chase Goodvin (Bakersfield, Calif., Frontier HS) and junior Matt Hammons (Bakersfield, Calif., Highland HS) lowered their scores in the final day of the 32nd Annual Anteater Inviational hosted by UC Irvine on Tuesday at Shady Canyon Golf Club and finished in a tie for 23rd place to lead the CSU Bakersfield men's golf team.
Goodvin carded a one-under 70 on Tuesday for a three-round total of 224 (77-77-70), while Hammons posted a one-over 72 on his way to a 224 (75-77-72). Senior Jason Errecart finished in a tie for 37th place with a 232 (78-73-81) and Daniel Richardson (Jr., Surrey, England, Reedley College) posted a 237 (77-79-81) for 44th place.
As a team, the Roadrunners placed ninth in the nine-team field with a 917 (307-306-304). Long Beach State won the team title with a 862 (290-279-293). Long Beach State's Kevin Lim captured the individual crown with a with a one-under 212 (74-68-70).
The tournament was the final competition of the regular season for the 'Runners. They will now prepare for their first American Sky Conference Championship after joining the conference as an affiliate member just prior to the 2012 season. The ASC Championships will be held April 30 through May 2 in Stonington, Conn.
