BAKERSFIELD, Calif.  - CSU Bakersfield wrestler Anthony Box (R-Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield HS) proved his talents extend beyond the mats as he pinned down first place in the poetry category of the 2012 Betty Creative Writing Awards, which were announced on Wednesday.

The Betty Creative Writing Awards are sponsored by CSUB's English honor society, Sigma Tau Delta. The awards recognize and give cash prizes for the top three entries in the poetry, short story and drama fields. Box won $500 for his poem titled "Polaroids."

Box wrestled at 157 pounds this season for the Roadrunners, going 14-13 on the season. He went 4-5 in duals including a 1-4 mark in Pac-12 duals and scored 15 points for CSUB in dual matches.

CSUB Sports Information Graduate Assistant Joelle Milholm placed second place in the short story category of the contest with "The Expose of the Nipple."

Both will be recognized at Sigma Tau Delta Induction and Awards Ceremony on April 27 at the Multipurpose Room of the Student Union at 7 p.m.
