UC Riverside Defeats CSUB 75-63

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--TreShont Nottingham scored 29 points to lead UC Riverside (3-1) past CSU Bakersfield (1-3) 75-63 Sunday in the Icardo Center.

Nottingham went 15-of-15 from the free throw line, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out eight assists, playing all 40 minutes. The Highlanders led by 16 with 14:17 remaining in the second half before CSUB chopped the lead down to five with 5:20 to go. UC Riverside used a 9-0 spurt to push the lead back into double figures for good.

Brooklynn Hinkens (So., Lake Tapps, Wash., Auburn-Riverside HS) led CSUB with a season high 12 points. Batabe Zempare (Fr., Accra, Ghana, Scottsdale Chapparal HS) scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Cebrina Johnson (R-So., Corona, Calif., Santiago HS) recorded 11 rebounds and eight points.

"In the first half we didn't execute and played poorly," said CSUB head coach Greg McCall. "In the second half, we executed better and made some changes on defense, but we didn't get enough stops. (UC Riverside) outrebounded us especially on the offensive glass which hurt us a lot."

CSUB travels to the Cal Poly Tournament next Saturday and Sunday. The Roadrunners face Stephen F. Austin Saturday at 2 p.m. and the host Mustangs Sunday at 2.
