CSUB Defeats Arizona State 155-139 To Go To 4-0

LOS ANGELES, Calif.--CSU Bakersfield improved to 4-0 in men's swimming dual competition with a 155-139 victory over Arizona State Friday at UCLA.

Mitchell Huxhold (So. Escondido, Calif., San Pasqual HS) won the 500 and 1000 freestyle events as the Roadrunners took seven of the 14 swimming events from the Sun Devils. Huxhold has won seven individual events in 10 starts this season.

"Beating Arizona State is huge for us!" said CSUB director of swimming Chris Hansen. "They are a big time PAC 12 team. We stepped up for challenge and won!  Mitchell Huxhold, Gabriel Bertrand and Charles Yuhas were a big part of winning this meet. Our relays also played a huge part in the meet.  Cverle, Foresto, Wurm and Daneke won this relay which secured us the win.  Troy Neklason dove great making his NCAA zone score."

"We still need to work on our finishes and our Breast and IM events in order to score high at arena classic," Hansen continued. "This win is so important to me. Having our seniors Wurm, Daneke, Wickensheimer and Foresto see us finally beat Arizona State is bittersweet."

The Roadrunners swim at the Arena Invitational Nov. 15-17 in Long Beach.
