SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The CSU Bakersfield women's golf
team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2012 schedule on Tuesday by taking 14th
place as a team at the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Invitational at Cypress Ridge Golf
Course in Arroyo Grande.
Freshman Jordanne Barr (Bakersfield, Calif., Frontier HS)
led the way for the 'Runners with a two-round total of 160 (77-83) to finish in
a tie for 36th place in the 36-hole, two-day tournament. The Roadrunners
combined for a 661 (324-337). Gonzaga took the team title with a 609 (312-297)
to best the 17-team field.
"During the post-tournament meeting today, the girls were already making plans for the second hald of the season and coordinating class schedules for weight training and conditioning," said CSUB head coach Tony Bernardin. "With attitudes like this, good things await in the future for this program."
Malea Miller (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College)
and Lauren Holbrook (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) both finished in a
tie for 50th place at 164. Miller shot 82s on both days, while Holbrook posted
an 81 on Monday and an 83 on Tuesday.
Micah Lopez (Bakersfield, Calif., East Bakersfield HS)
finished in a tie for 77th at 171 (84-89) and Michelle Martel (Fr.,
Bakersfield, Calif., Frontier HS) tied for 95th place with a 184 (91-93).
The Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Invitational was the third and
final tournament of the fall for CSUB. They 'Runners will return to action on
Feb. 11-12 at the PLU Classic in San Diego. CSUB will play in five tournaments
in the spring, including the CSUB Invitational on March 25-26 at Bakersfield
Country Club and its first-ever West Coast Conference Championship April 15-17
in Bremerton, Wash.
