LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The CSU Bakersfield women's soccer team lost a heartbreaker to New Mexico State on Sunday afternoon, falling 1-0 in overtime.
The Aggies (2-10-3) need less than two minutes in extra time to beat
the Roadrunners (5-9-2). NM State scored when sophomore defender Alexys
Brownell headed a ball into the net for her first career goal.
"It is unfortunate that outside factors can affect the game of soccer so heavily. Having said that, we cannot be a victim to outside forces," said CSUB head coach Melissa Phillips. "We have to take charge and make the game suit our style. We need to continue working hard, learn how to keep focus under pressure, and stretch beyond our abilities to move forward. Give New Mexico State credit today as they gave a very good performance."
