CSUB Women?s Swimming Signs Lily Donahue

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-CSU Bakersfield Director of Swimming Chris Hansen has announced the signing of Lily Donaohue to compete for the Roadrunners this Fall.

Donohue arrives in Bakersfield from Boise State where as a sophomore she helped the Broncos repeat as WAC Champions with three top-eight finishes, 200 back (fourth); 100 butterfly (sixth); and 100 back (sixth). She picked up first-career victory by winning the 200 fly against Seattle (Jan. 15). As a freshman, Donohue took second place in Boise State's dual victory over San Diego. She helped the Broncos to their first WAC title by finishing 11th in the 200 back at the conference championships.

Donahue, a native of Portland, Ore., enters the Roadrunner program with three of the fastest times in CSUB history (200 back  2:00.26), (100 back - :56.21) and the (200 butterfly - 2:04.15). Her career best in the 200 butterfly is three seconds faster then the current CSUB school record.   Her best in the 100 butterfly would rank her second in school history (:55.89).

“This is huge for our women's program,” Hansen said. “We need recruits like this to look at CSUB to take this team to the next level. “Lily is psyched to be part of a building team and she looks forward to helping the women get the same level as success the men have had.”

The Roadrunners open the 2011-12 season Oct. 29 by hosting Pacific in the Hillman Aquatics Center.
