BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-CSU Bakersfield Athletic Director Jeff Konya has announced a new partnership with Glinn & Giordano Physical Therapy to become the preferred provider of physical therapy and injury rehabilitation services for CSUB Athletics. Along with those services, Glinn & Giordano will also assist CSUB staff with strength and conditioning programs for Roadrunner Athletics.
“We in CSUB Athletics recognize how important our community is to our success, so the ability to partner with an organization like Glinn & Giordano Physical Therapy makes a lot of sense for our product and the community as a whole,” Konya said.
Along with therapy and rehabilitation, Glinn & Giordano will work in concert with internal athletic staff providing guidance in strength and conditioning programs while working closely with CSUB coaches to help meet the requirements of performing at the highest levels of NCAA Division I competition.
“The opportunity to bring two long-standing Bakersfield institutions together is what makes this so special for us,” said Glinn & Giordano President Kurt Wingate. “Our values have always been directed towards a sense of community and what better opportunity than to team with a respected institution like CSUB Athletics to build and educate student-athletes.”
Meeting the rigors of Division I competition will not be an issue for Glinn & Giordano as they draw from experience working with athletes at all levels of sports, including current Major League Baseball pitcher and local product Phillip Dumatrait of the Minnesota Twins.
“This is a formal relationship that enhances our student-athletes ability to compete, perform and excel at the highest levels of Division I athletics,” Konya said. “To enter into a relationship with such a prominent organization like Glinn & Giordano Physical Therapy just shows how entrenched our product is becoming in the community.”
Glinn & Giordano has remained dedicated to providing Kern County with exceptional care since its inception in 1980. Guided by its four core principles; ability, access, aptitude and attitude, Glinn & Giordano has proven itself as the premier physical therapy provider in Kern County while operating under the idea that every patient deserves personalized attention to health. Glinn & Giordano has six locations across Bakersfield and Kern County providing excellent care in state-of-the-art facilities to each patient they serve. The company is 100 percent locally-owned, with employees active in groups such as Rotary, EAKC and Active 20/30 Club.
“There was a moment in our conversations where we realized that the vision of CSUB Athletics and Glinn & Giordano Physical Therapy are strikingly similar. These student-athletes are not unlike our patients in that our primary goal is to make sure they are able to function at an optimum level,” said Glinn & Giordano Vice President David Rous. “We're ready for the challenge and look forward to assisting CSUB Athletics in becoming the dominant Division I force we know it can be.”
The 2011-12 season of sport for CSUB Athletics begins in just a few months with women's soccer opening the season at New Mexico on August 21st.
