IRVINE, Calif.--Freshman Chase Goodvin (Bakersfield, Calif., Frontier HS) tied for second at the Folino Invitational Mar. 23 at the Oak Creek Golf Club.
Goodvin, who was tied for first with three other players entering Tuesday's final round, was edged out by Cal Poly's Geoff Gonzalez for the medalist honors. Gonzalez shot a one-under 70 for a 54-hole total of 212 and first place. Goodvin posted a two-over 73 on Tuesday for a 215 total (70-72-73). Goodvin tied for second withh three other players.
Matt Hammons (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Highland HS) tied for 21st (74-78-72-224) with one other player. Kyle Morrison (Sr..Redondo Beach, Calif., Redondo Union HS) finished 40th (75-81-78-234). Jason Errecart (Jr., Kerman, Calif., Kerman HS) tied for 44th (76-79-85-240) with one other golfer. Kirk Harper (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College) was 46th (81-79-83-243).
In the team compeition, Cal Poly was the champion (292-291-284-867). CSUB finished 10th (295-308-306-909).
The Roadrunners are at the Cal Poly Lampkin Grip Match Play Tournament Friday and Saturday.
