BOULDER, Colo.-- With by far the toughest team lined up to end their three-game, three-state, six-game road trip the CSUB Roadrunners overcame the road-woes and fought a tough battle Monday night, but in the end lost their fourth straight 70-64 to Colorado.
The Roadrunners took control early in the game denying Colorado high-percentage looks and out rebounded the Buffaloes while the 'Runners built an 11-point lead with 7:19 remaining in the half. Following the time out however, the Buffaloes would go on a 14-3 run to briefly retake the lead before Zack Lamb (Jr., Norcross, Ga., Miami-Dade CC) was fouled on a three-point attempt. After Lamb knocked down all three, CSUB would take a 27-25 lead going into the locker room.
The lead didn't last long however as the Buffaloes opened the second half on another 14-2 run to take control on the game. They would lead by as many as 12 in the second half but CSUB managed to keep it within single-digits for most of the frame. In the final three minutes the Roadrunners again mounted a late comeback with Robert Hayes (Sr., San Diego, Calif., San Francisco State) and Tyrone White (Jr., Portland, Ore., North Idaho CC) hitting three pointers to make it a five-point game.
The Buffaloes however hit their free throws as the Roadrunner comeback fell short. Hayes would lead CSUB with 13 points on 5 of 8 from the field while Stephon Carter (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Garces HS) added 12 points on 4 of 15 shooting.
Colorado managed four players in double figures with sophomore forward Andre Roberson scoring 18 points on 6 of 10 shooting. The Roadrunners fell to 5-6 and possess a losing record for just the second time this season. After going 0-4 on their most recent road trip, CSUB heads home to face Pacific Thursday night at 7 P.M. at the Icardo Center.
