CSUB Women?s Swimming Finishes Strong At Arena Invitational

LONG BEACH, Calif.—The CSU Bakersfield women's swimming team posted a strong finish on the final day of the Arena Invitational Saturday night at the Belmont Pool.

Lily Donahue (Jr., Portland, Ore., Boise State) finished 15th in the 200 backstroke as she posted the second fastest time in school history with a 2:01.21 clocking.

Isabell Nystrom (Sr. Stockholm, Sweden, Limestone College) was 20th in the 1650 freestyle (17:14.36). Her time was the second fastest in school history.

Rachel McCall (Jr., Calgary, Alberta, National Sport School) placed 12th in the 100 freestyle in a time of :50.87, the fourth fastest in school history.

The 400 freestyle relay of McCall, Donohue, Nystorm, and Madison Goodvin (Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Frontier HS), and McCall were 14th as the quartet raced to a time of 3:35.32.

As a team, CSUB finished ahead of Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine as the Roadrunners placed 16th (166) in the field. Cal was the team winner (989).

“Lily Donohue swam the second fastest 200 back in CSUB history with a 2:01.21,” said CSUB director of swimming Chris Hansen. “She is way ahead of the third fastest time. This is big for Lily as we did not rest her for this meet. Rachel McCall's 1:48.69 in the 200 free and 50.68 in the 100 free are other big swims. Isabell Nystrom swam a person best time in the 1650 with a 17:24.36 tonight. These three ladies are going to lead us at the MPSF meet. It is great to see the CSUB women swimming in finals, scoring points and beating some California schools. The future is going to fast for these ladies.”
