McCall Wins Three Events; CSUB Falls To Pacific

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—Rachel McCall (Jr., Calgary, Alberta, National Sport School) won three events as CSU Bakersfield fell 160-119 to Pacific Saturday at the Hillman Aquatics Complex.

McCall won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:05.82. She came back to win the 100 freestyle with a :52.22 performance. She ended the day by anchoring the CSUB 400 free relay which was victorius by swimming a time of 3:38.47. Joining McCall on the winning 400 free relay were Taylor Hanson (So., Modesto, Calif., Johansen HS), Isabell Nystrom (Sr., Stockholm, Sweden, Limestone College), and Sara Brady (Sr., Tehachapi, Calif., Bakersfield College).

Hanson, a member of the CSUB water polo team, won the 500 freestyle (5:06.65) and was second in the 100 freestyle (:53.02). Hanson and McCall were on the Roadrunners' 200 medley relay along with Lily Donahue (Jr., Portland, Ore., Boise State), and Madison Goodvin (Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Frontier HS) that recorded a time of 1:50.86 that was good enough for third.

Donahue won two events, the 100 backstroke (:59.86) and the 200 backstroke (2:07.53). Nystrom took home top honors in the 1000 freestyle by registering a time of 10:33.67.

Jordan Reed (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) won both diving events. Reed tallied a score of 230.85 in the 1m event and a score of 222.50 in the 3m event.

“I couldn't be any happier with our team,” said CSUB director of swimming Chris Hansen. “We stepped up and raced and raced to wins. Rachel, Isabell and Lily were great. It was a pleasant surprise to have Taylor Hanson do so well after joining us for this event .”

The Roadrunners return to the pool for a pair of events next weekend. The divers are at the USC Invitational next Friday and Saturday in Los Angeles. The swimmers will travel to Pacific next Saturday for a quad with Air Force, Pacific, and Seattle University beginning at 12 p.m.
