LAYTON, Utah — CSU Bakersfield junior Matt Hammons
(Bakersfield, Calif., Highland HS) finished in a tie for 16th place
to lead the Roadrunner Men's Golf team at the Wildcat Invitational on Tuesday.
After carding rounds of 72 and 73 on Monday at Valley View
Golf Course, Hammons shot a 75 on Tuesday to finish with a three-round 4-over
score of 220. As a team, CSUB tied for ninth with tournament host Weber State
with a 906.
The Roadrunners shot rounds of 299 and 295 on Monday before
finishing with a 312. As a team, the 'Runners recorded three eagles and 33
birdies in the tournament.
"We played better on Monday in the afternoon than we did
today," said CSUB head coach Dave Barber. "We've got to learn how to finish a
tournament. So we've got some things to work on."
Sophomore Chase Goodvin (Bakersfield, Calif., Frontier HS)
moved up two spots on the final day to finish in a tie for 42nd with
a 229 (74-79-76). Senior Jason Errecart (Kerman, Calif., Kerman HS) and freshman Dylan Lym (Evanton, Wyo.,
Evanston HS) tied for 45th place in the individual standings with
230s and Daniel Richardson (Jr., Surrey, England, Reedley College) tied for 60th
place with a 237.
Sacramento State and Arkansas-Little Rock finished as
co-champions of the tournament with 868s.
CSUB will be back in action Oct. 17-18 in the Cal State
Northridge Invitational.
