SJSU Defeats CSUB In Women's Swimming Dual; Reed Wins A Pair Of Diving Events

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-San Jose State (5-1) defeated CSUB (2-7) 182-92 in a Women's Swimming dual at the Hillman Aquatics Center Saturday. Many of the CSUB Swimmers were competing in off events during the meet.

"This meet served as a practice for team building and racing," said CSUB Head Coach Pat Skehan. "Today was about developing our racing skills and team confidence and that what is best for us."

Jordan Reed (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) paced the Roadrunners as she won both diving events. Reed posted a score of 197.25 in the 1-meter. She charted 233.03 points to take home the 3-meter event.
 
Rachel McCall (Jr., Calgary, Alberta, National Sport School) swam the 500 freestyle for the first time this season and she came away with the victory.  McCall recorded the sixth fastest time in school history in the race with a time of 5:04.34. McCall also raced in the 100 butterfly for the first time this season and she placed third (:59.16) in the event.

Olivia Ramos (So., Stockdale HS) led a 1-2-3 finish for the Roadrunners in the 400 IM as she turned in a time of 4:53.24. Chelsea Ankeny (Jr., Ontario, Calif., Riverside CC) finished second in the race (5:00.37) while Bonny Bordwell (Sr., Ventura, Calif., Ventura College) was third in the race (5:11.57).  Ramos was also fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:59.89).

Rachel Holm (Sr., Rocklin, Calif., Sierra College) competed in the 1-meter diving event for the first time this season and finished second (114.45).

Louise Westergren (So., Malmo, Sweden, Pro Civitas HS) finished third in the 50 breaststroke (:32.04) and fourth in the 1000 freestyle (11:09.92).

Stephanie Donnelly (Sr., Halifax, Nova Scotia, Halifax West HS) came in fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:01.57).

Michelle Kroll (Sr., Castaic, Calif., Ventura College) was fifth in the 50 freestyle (:26.37) and fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.58).

Brooke Penney (Sr., San Diego, Calif., Ventura College) placed fifth in the 50 backstroke (:30.53). Sara Brady (Jr., Tehachapi, Calif., Bakersfield College) finished fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:07.80).

Relay action saw the 200 freestyle team of Westergren, Penney, McCall, and Bordwell win the race in a time of 1:40.13. The 200 medley squad of Isabell Nystrom (Jr., Stockholm, Sweden, Varmdo Gymnasium), Holm, Kroll, and Ankeny come in third (1:57.29).
