SAN
JOSE, Calif. - The CSUB
volleyball team finished a rough trip to the Bay area Saturday, dropping its
final two matches at the San Jose State/Santa Clara Tournament. The Roadrunners
lost at Santa Clara in the morning, 27-17, 25-12, 25-20 before dropping a
25-15, 25-16, 25-18 decision in the tournament final to San Jose State.
Junior
outside hitter Lindy DeGeare (Stockdale
HS) led CSUB with 10 kills in each match. She was the only 'Runner to reach
double figures Saturday. Freshman outside hitter Haleigh Haratyk (Corona/Centennial HS) had four aces Saturday,
including three at San Jose State.
Santa
Clara jumped out to early leads in all three sets. The 'Runners battled back
from 17-10 down in the third to climb within three points twice, the last time
at 22-19, but could get no closer. The nightcap at San Jose followed a similar
pattern, with the Spartans rolling in the first two sets before using a 5-0 run
to break a 13-13 tie in the third from which they wouldn't look back.
CSUB
stays on the road next week as it continues its eight-match road trip with
three matches at the Fresno State Tournament. The 'Runners will face Big Sky
titan Sacramento State, No. 8 USC and host Fresno State Friday and Saturday.
