LOS ANGELES - The CSUB track and field teams captured 29 top-10 finishes and 17 season-best marks Saturday at the Tommie Lister Classic at Cal State L.A. The Roadrunners were victorious in two events on the day.
Junior Arianna Celis took the 1,500 meter crown, winning in 4:41.05. She also placed fourth in the 800, running 2:17.65. She was followed by senior Connie King in 2:20.27. Sophomore Ashley Nolasco was sixth, freshman Cecilia Lopez was seventh and sophomore Melisa Cruz was ninth.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team won in a season-best time of 4:01.97. In the 3,000, junior Casey Glassey took second in a season-best time of 10:39.86. Sophomore Juidth Mata was forth and freshman Yesmin Tanguma toook eighth.
Junior Michael Davis ran his fastest 200 of the season, placing seventh in 21.51. He also ran a 10.69 in the 100 to finish fifth. Classmate Ryan Nichols had a season-best time of 10.88 in the 100 and placed sixth in the long jump.
Senior Edward Lee lowered his 800 meter time with a sixth place finish in 1:56.58. He also took a sixth place finish in the 1,500 in 4:02.33. Senior Ryan Lucker placed eighth in the 800 in a season-best time of 1:58.05.
In the shot put, freshman Dayshan Ragans placed fourth and was followed by classmate Collin Ellis in fifth. Ragans also placed second in the discus and Ellis placed fourth. In the hammer throw, freshman Thomas Judge was fifth with a mark of 146-06.
CSUB heads to Fresno State next weekend to close its season with a dual against the Bulldogs.
