Strong Performances For Roadrunners at UCLA

WESTWOOD, Calif. - Junior Michael Davis recorded a pair of top-four finishes Friday as the Roadrunner track and field teams competed at UCLA's Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational. Davis was the runner-up in the 200 meter dash, finishing in 21.69. Earlier in the day, he took fourth at 100 meters in 10.75. In all, CSUB captured nine top-10 finishes in a highly competitive meet that included Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Fresno State, the host Bruins and numerous high-level running clubs.

On the men's side, Davis was joined in the top-10 by junior David Charleston and senior Alex Haver who placed fifth and sixth in the high jump, clearing 6-3.25 and 6-1.25, respectively. Freshman Collin Ellis placed eighth in the discus and senior Edward Lee improved his 1,500 meter time by over three seconds, finishing 15th in 4:00.33.

The biggest season-improvement on the women's side came from junior Casey Glassey in the 5,000. Glassy lowered her season-best time by over 40 seconds, finishing eighth in 18:09.45. Senior Connie King set a season-best time in the 400 meter hurdles to place seventh in 1:04.62. Junior Briana Woodfox was eighth in the long jump and freshman Brushay Wandick was ninth in the 100 meter dash.

The meet concludes tomorrow as junior Derek Kasselstrand will compete in the invitational discus throw. After that, the Roadrunners will send split squads to two meets next weekend, the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., and the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif.
