BAKERSFIELD,
Calif. - The CSUB
volleyball team couldn't sustain a fast start Saturday night as Seattle
University rallied for a 16-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-18 win on senior night in the
Icardo Center.
CSUB
was brilliant early, hitting .318 while winning set one going away. That's when
Seattle got hot. Actually, Seattle didn't get hot so much as Redhawk outside
hitter Cristin Richards got hot.
Richards
finished with 23 of Seattle's 48 kills, hitting .422 on the night. The eight
other players in the Redhawk lineup combined for 25 kills and an anemic .054
attack percentage. Unfortunately for the Roadrunners, it was enough to get the
job done this night.
Freshman
outside hitter Haleigh Haratyk
(Corona/Centennial HS) led CSUB with 14 kills. Senior libero Lindsay Toone (Liberty HS) added a
match-high 21 digs playing the final home match of her collegiate career. CSUB's
only other senior, defensive specialist Allison
Cote (Liberty HS) played in all four sets and added four digs.
The
Roadrunners will take a week off before heading to San Diego to face San Diego
State Nov.13. They will then head to Seattle for the NCAA Division I Independent
Tournament Nov. 19-20.
