trio of high school standouts will join the Roadrunner softball program for the
2012 season after signing national letters of intent. Head Coach Kathy Welter

Carter,
a native of nearby Tehachapi, will join the 'Runner catching staff. In her junior year, she earned first team
All–South Sequoia League honors and was named the SSL Offensive Player of the
Year. She also received all–league honors in her freshmen and sophomore seasons
and was listed as an ESPN Rise Player
to Watch.
“Ashley
has a strong arm behind the plate and I expect her to work well with our
pitching staff,” says Welter. “She has all around good skills and every time I
see her play she seems to get stronger.”

Martinez,
from Orange, will contribute at the corners and behind the plate. She was named
first team All–Century League in both her sophomore and junior seasons. She
also received EMHS Most Valuable Defensive Player honors in her freshmen year.
“We
expect Melina to be a good college hitter,” says Welter “She can play multiple
positions, but she will probably make a mark with her hitting.”

Sandoval,
an outfielder from La Verne, will add speed to an already fast Roadrunner
outfield. She was named first Team All–Miramonte League and San Gabriel Valley
Tribune First Team All–Area in her junior year. She was also named first and second

“Breeanna is the most experienced of our
incoming players,” says Welter. “She covers a lot of ground in the outfield,
and is a very good left handed hitter with good baserunning skills.”
